WE ARE DENYSE

AND ROBERTO!

a couple of enthusiastic Italian chefs and pro ladle-lickers.

We come from the two opposite ends of the Italian boot, both born into families that spend sunday morning in the kitchen kneading, chopping, fighting and of course cooking delicious food.
We also love to travel, and Asia has a piece of our heart and appetite, we get a lot of inspiration from the recipes we have learned on our travels but we are italian after all and our heart
is taken already, by pasta of course.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

WE ARE "ORDER THE WHOLE MENU" KINDA PEOPLE

We realized that we were meant to be together on our first official date because without any of the usual first-date embarrassment we ordered the whole menu and ate through it all.

Now, after 8 years of amazing experiences, some fights, lots of travel, a great job teaching cooking classes and a huge amount of food cooked together, we have decided to start with our own project (yay, and benvenuti!)

Meet the Dragons

WHAT'S UNDER OUR CHEF'S HAT

Meatball CEO

I'm Roberto

I'm a proud Sicilian from Modica (the city of the famous chocolate).

I grew up with the smell of meatballs slowly simmering

in my nonna Enza’s tomato sauce. I have a crazy passion

for carbs so i'm always ready to crank out delicious pizzas and loafs made with my selection of sourdough starters but above all I'm absolutely in love with italian traditional cuisine.

I want you to understand that I am not just a chef,

a nice teacher and Denyse’s husband,

I am also a serial collector of skills.

Serial Collector

Of Skills

I played guitar for an intense "moment", I'm also an abstract artist (I'll show you “the Dragonheim” one day)
I was an electrician once, I started learning to become a tattooist too (I should get back to that).
I would have been a great hip-hop dancer if I hadn’t dedicated myself to cooking (haha).
When I have free time I practice to become a singer, rock singer of course!
So when I cook you’ll hear AC/DC coming out of the kitchen.

Last but not least I am an urban cyclist and I love to bike around the beautiful streets of Rome with my amazing vintage bike and my man (but that’s another story).

ROBERTO DRAGO

"If we’re going to be friends, you should know that I have a bit of a habit when I enter homes: opening fridges and checking the delivery...

Tell me the food you cook and I’ll tell you who you are!"

CANNOLI CTO

I'm Denyse

Born in foggy Treviso (hometown of tiramisu), first of her name. Queen of nerdy stuff, Empress of vintage shops, Princess of Asian cuisine (to cook and of course to eat), Lady of the perfect sofa and Protector of naps.

I love pasta with all my stomach (I meant heart) but every now and then I need a break, my go-to is Asian food. I like to return with my palate to the places I have visited on my long trips, asian food is definitely my comfort food.

Something that doesn't involve food?

I have a lot of plants at home, I love to read too, I might classify as a bit bookworm, I’m definitely a list maker (no, sorry, a pro-list-maker if we can put it on a scale) there’s a lot of satisfaction when you get to cross out things from your list. Vintage shops are my weakness, i'm always looking for that special one of a kind item.

I recently re-discovered my passion for video editing and although i am still learning i think this is a keeper. I love a good nap if you haven’t gotten that yet and biking around the city with Rob and my close group of friends.

DENYSE DRAGO

"I admit it, I'm a food nerd, I basically eat and know stuff. For me a recipe is not just a matter of doses, steps and proportions, behind a recipe I see a family tradition, a secret that a grandmother handed down to their daughters,

a successful experiment written in the recipe notebook that has been stained by either coffee or age."
